Description from the seller
Rare professional Minolta XM system camera (body) with AE prism viewfinder from the 1970s – fully functional
For sale is the legendary top model from Minolta, built as a direct competitor to the Nikon F2 and Canon F-1. Since this professional model was produced in far smaller quantities compared to consumer cameras and the electronics have rarely survived to today, this fully functional specimen is a true collector’s item.
The camera was tested with fresh batteries. The light meter, the LED display in the viewfinder, and the electronic time automation (Auto mode) work perfectly and precisely. The shutter operates cleanly across all speeds.
Viewfinder: The field of view is wonderfully bright and the indicators in the viewfinder are perfectly legible. As expected with age, there is the typical fine dust (fine specks) in the prism/adjustment scale, which does not impair viewing or focusing in any way.
Cosmetic condition: Good, used condition with charming patina. There is the classic edge wear (brassing) where the brass shows through slightly. On the front right edge of the viewfinder housing there is a noticeable scratch/dent (see detail photos). The interior of the camera, the film chamber, and the battery compartment are absolutely clean and corrosion-free.
A fantastic, ready-to-use body for analogue enthusiasts or a valuable addition to any discerning Minolta collection.
