Description from the seller
Fantin Silver Plated Italy – Monumental Italian centerpiece/stand from the 1960s in Ag999 silverware with sculpted roses
Extraordinary centerpiece/stand of high elegance signed Fantin Silver Plated Italy, prestigious expression of Italian decorative silverware from the 1960s.
Made in Ag999 silver-plated ware, this refined piece magnificently unites the scenographic taste of Italian Neorococo with the decorative opulence of Baroque reinterpreted in the luxury of the late twentieth century. The wide, harmoniously shaped silhouette, enriched by richly sculpted relief floral compositions, gives the object an aesthetically impactful and rarely refined presence.
The majestic three-dimensional roses, finely chased and modeled, wrap around the ends of the centerpiece and the central base, creating an extremely theatrical, elegant and sophisticated ensemble. The ultra-bright finish produces splendid plays of light and mirror reflections, further enhancing the object's prestige.
The design recalls the great Italian productions of representation intended for elegant homes, prestigious drawing rooms, and important tables, in perfect Hollywood Regency, luxury vintage, and classic Italian décor style.
The object features:
• refined Rococo-inspired multi-profile wavy edge;
• important high-relief ornamental floral unions;
• three-dimensional sculpted roses with a rich level of detail;
• elegant central grooved base with a classical feel;
• mirror-like surfaces of exceptional brightness;
• monumental and highly scenographic composition.
Marks present:
Fantin – Silver Plated – Made in Italy – Ag999.
The inscription Ag999 identifies a noble plating in pure silver of high fineness, particularly appreciated in quality Italian silverware from the second half of the 20th century.
Conditions
Excellent overall condition.
The silvered surface appears extraordinarily luminous, bright, and magnificently preserved. There are only two small internal spots where the original protective lacquer of the time has lightly deteriorated, as visible in the photographs. This is not a loss of silvering: the silver plating remains perfectly present even in the affected areas.
Slight and natural signs of aging compatible with age and conservation, including a very light and uniform yellowing of the internal lacquer along some edges, typical of authentic antique objects and not invasively restored.
Overall, a magnificent example of vintage Italian decorative silverware, with strong presence and great collectible elegance.
Measurements
• Total dimensions: 44 × 32 cm
• Total height: 19 cm
• Base/shaft: 17 × 12 cm
• Shaft height: 9.5 cm
• Floral decorations/handles: about 18 × 6 cm
Fantin and the tradition of Italian silverware
Fantin belongs to the tradition of high Italian decorative silverware from the second half of the twentieth century, internationally renowned for the aesthetic excellence of ornamental work, the quality of finishes, and the scenographic elegance of its creations.
In the 1960s, Italian silverware represented one of the symbols of European domestic luxury: centerpieces, stands, and decorative objects like this were chosen to decorate prestigious residences and representative spaces, becoming authentic elements of status and elegance.
Ideal piece for collectors of Italian silverware, interior designers, classic luxury interiors, Hollywood Regency styling, exclusive shabby chic, or homes with a romantic and sophisticated taste.
