Figure - Kaun Yin - Rock crystal - China

Hand-carved rock crystal representation of Kuan Yin, Buddhist goddess of compassion and mercy, on a custom-made pierced wooden pedestal to fit perfectly. She is recognized by her elegant bun (ushnisha), her flowing Chinese-style robes, and her serene, meditative expression. Dated as from a private collection, the dating is between the late Qing dynasty (late 19th century) or early 20th century. Therefore the dating is from when the family bought it.
The transparent quartz is highly luminous and pure; only minute impurities and imperfections are visible with a loupe.
Always kept in a display cabinet, it is in excellent condition.
