A vintage wall mechanical timer by Original Hanau, dating from the 1920s–1930s, made of wood and metal with a 1-day power reserve, a cord-operated mechanism, a side lever with German Halt/Geht, and a bell strike when the set time reaches zero.
Description from the seller
This object is a vintage wall-mounted mechanical timer from the German brand Original Hanau, manufactured mainly during the 1920s and 1930s.
Item Details
Main Function: It was originally designed and marketed to control the duration of artificial tanning sessions (with the brand's famous quartz lamps), but it also found wide use as a laboratory timer, photography studio timer (darkroom), and kitchen timer.
Mechanism: It is a fully mechanical cord-driven device. The user turns the central black dial to set the desired minutes.
Side Control: The metal lever in the lower-left corner bears the German inscriptions "Halt" (Stop) and "Geht" (Run/Start), allowing you to pause and resume the timing at any moment.
