Parian porcelain teapot by Belleek Pottery, model Echinus, in good used condition with age-related imperfections, originating in Ireland and dating from 1850–1900, measuring 11.4 cm high, 16 cm wide (handle to spout) and 10.5 cm in diameter, finished in white with a nacreous glaze.
Description from the seller
Exquisite and very rare Parian porcelain teapot from the prestigious Irish firm Belleek Pottery [1, 5]. This model belongs to the iconic 'Echinus' series (sea urchin), originally designed during the First Period of the manufacture (circa 1863-1891) [1, 2]. The central body faithfully emulates the texture and relief of a sea urchin, while the handle, spout, and base support recreate intricate branches of coral with exceptional realism. It features the hallmark iridescent glaze finish ('cob lustre') of the brand, giving the porcelain an iridescent sheen similar to ivory or the interior of a shell [4, 11]. A museum-quality Victorian collectible piece, identical to the specimens exhibited in institutions such as the Victoria and Albert Museum in London [1]. Dimensions: Height: 11.4 cm [1] Width (handle-to-spout length): 16 cm [2] Diameter: 10.5 cm [1] Weight: Approximately 350 - 450 grams
