Description from the seller
They are two candelabras that fit squarely within the Louis XVI aesthetic, that characteristic blend of balance, symmetry and refinement that marked the transition from Rococo to a more sober classicism.
Here, crafted in silvered brass or German nickel silver, they preserve that slightly cool and elegant sheen that distinguishes noble metals when used for table or salon pieces.
The structure is classic: a stylized central shaft that ascends with firmness, from which the curved arms branch out, perfectly proportioned, topped with cups for five lights.
The curves are restrained, never excessive, and the details —fluting, discreet volutes, small moldings— respond to that taste for measured ornamentation that defines the style.
The base, broad and fluted, provides stability and an almost architectural air, as if the piece rested on a base of a classical column.
All of them speak of the late 19th or early 20th century, when French tradition continued to set the trend and European workshops produced candelabras of great presence for dining rooms, drawing rooms and ceremonies.
They are pieces that today still retain their ability to give heft to a space: elegant without stiffness, decorative without loudness, heirs of a formal language that continues to work more than a century later.
Certified shipping and careful packaging.
