Manufactured by Carl Zeiss Jena in East Germany during the mid-20th century, the Werra 1 is a highly distinctive 35mm viewfinder camera celebrated for its minimalist and avant-garde industrial design. Named after the German river Werra, this camera stands out due to its remarkably clean top plate and unique control mechanics, most notably the rotating ring around the lens barrel used to advance the film and cock the shutter. Highly regarded by collectors for its streamlined aesthetic and connection to the historic Carl Zeiss Jena factory, the Werra 1 remains a fascinating and tactile piece of photographic history.
