Description from the seller

General

The eleventh-generation Ford Thunderbird is a beautiful retro roadster that revives the iconic first generation from 1955. The model is designed as an elegant two-seater with recognizable rounded shapes, chrome details, and a relaxed cruising style, clearly inspired by the classic T-Bird lines. This particular example was delivered new in Canada in December 2004. Because Canada uses the metric system, this car left the factory with a odometer in kilometres rather than miles, which is a big advantage for the European market. In May 2005 the car came to the Netherlands and was registered there. The previous owner has subtly removed the outwardly characteristic model badges, giving this Thunderbird an exclusive, almost concept-car-like appearance that immediately draws attention.

Bodywork and Paint

The exterior of this roadster features all the classic design characteristics, including the well-known 'egg crate' grille and flowing fenders. The body is equipped with the iconic removable hardtop with portholes and also features a very neat fabric soft top that opens and closes fully electrically. Because the vehicle has been repainted once in the past, the paint is in good condition with normal signs of use appropriate for the age of the car. The body rubbers, alloy wheels, and all chrome trim elements are in neat, well-kept condition. Additionally, the tires have a good and safe tread.

Technical

Mechanically, this Thunderbird is in good maintenance condition. The powerful and smooth eight-cylinder engine runs very neatly and the five-speed automatic transmission shifts smoothly between gears. Although there is no documented service history for the car, the technical components function properly. The car is equipped with smoothly operating power windows and the cruise control works well. For extra safety, an external alarm system with remote control has been installed afterward.

Interior

The interior has remained fully original and is in good and clean condition. The leather upholstery shows light and normal signs of use that are to be expected given the age of the car. To bring the driving comfort to a modern level, the original factory radio has been replaced with a modern audio system featuring DAB radio and Apple CarPlay. Behind the comfortable front seats, a wind deflector has also been mounted, allowing comfortable driving with the roof open even at higher speeds. The air conditioning also blows a pleasant cold airflow.

Documents

The vehicle is on a valid and active Dutch license plate. Thanks to its Canadian origin and early import to the Netherlands in 2005, the car has a clear registration history within the European Union. All necessary onboard documents and the remote control for the alarm system are included with the car.

Pickup

The car can be picked up after bidding and in consultation with the seller. Although every effort has been made with the photo report and this textual description to present the roadster as accurately and honestly as possible, this is a 22-year-old vehicle. For this reason it is strongly advised to come and view the car in person before placing a bid, to prevent any disappointments or disputes afterward.

Other Information

This Ford Thunderbird offers a unique opportunity to enjoy carefree American cruising with the comfort and reliability of a modern car. It is a unique appearance that, with its badge-less styling, leaves a special impression. To schedule a viewing or to make an appointment, you can contact Catawiki.

Disclaimer

Catawiki always aims to offer you the best possible buying experience. Our experts virtually review and select every vehicle in line with our submission guidelines and we require our sellers to provide the most accurate description of the vehicle. However, providing a fully detailed analysis of the vehicle is extremely difficult, and close to impossible. To guide you, we ask our sellers to provide information about the vehicle’s condition. Please consider that most vehicles for sale are classic vehicles and they often already have a whole life behind them, meaning that even a condition 1 or 2 vehicle might need maintenance to be ready for the road. It is advised to carefully read our submission guidelines that further describe details about the condition grades and types to manage your expectations. Cars are sold “as is”, meaning as described and in the condition they are in at the time of the sale and without any representation, warranty or assumption of liability of any kind as to the condition by Catawiki or by the seller. The condition of this item is the opinion of the seller and may differ from yours, your local garage, or the dealer’s opinion. This does not automatically mean the car does not conform to its description. Before bidding, please check your local legislation regarding vehicle registration. Neither the seller nor Catawiki is responsible for the registration of the vehicle in your country and will not accept a cancellation for your failure to register the vehicle. We also recommend that, if possible, you arrange a viewing with the seller before placing a bid.
