Candelabrum - Gilt bronze - H : 35 cm

A pair of finely carved gilded bronze candelabra resting on circular bases of veined black marble. Each shaft is adorned with a draped female figure in a sheath dress, treated in the neoclassical taste, supporting a bouquet of four light arms with rocaille and foliate decoration.

The swelled arms, richly ornamented with scrolls, foliage and floral motifs, terminate in bobèches decorated with stylized leaves. The pedestal features a stylized vegetal ornament resting on a marble base.

Decorative work characteristic of the eclectic Napoleonic III taste, blending Louis XV (rocaille) influence and neoclassical.

Very good overall condition.
