Description from the seller

Antique Italian Mirror in Meccato Silver – Elegant Period Wooden Molded Frame, Charm and Refinement of the 19th Century.

Antique wall mirror with a molded wooden frame embellished by the application of meccato silver leaf, refined Italian craftsmanship of the era with an elegant and timeless taste.

The meccato silver workmanship represents an ancient decorative technique highly valued in Italian cabinetmaking between the 18th and 19th centuries: the silver leaf was skillfully treated with varnishes and transparent patinas to achieve the warm golden tones typical of great old frames, granting depth, brightness, and a charming lived-in effect. This particular finish gives the surface a unique chromatic richness, capable of creating soft and refined plays of light that are impossible to reproduce in modern works.

The frame features harmonious lines and classical moldings that recall the elegance of Italian period furniture, highlighting the authentic charm of antique decorative mirrors. The pleasant patina of time and the light traces of wear further enhance the object’s historic character, making it a decor piece with great atmosphere and prestige.

The mirror is in overall excellent condition and has recently been fitted with a new glazing, perfectly integrated into the original structure, to ensure greater brilliance, functionality and aesthetic quality while fully respecting the frame’s antique charm.

Ideal for enriching entrances, living rooms, bedrooms, or classic, rustic and eclectic environments, where it can become the centerpiece of the decor thanks to its antique style and impressive stage presence.
