Description from the seller
An antique clock, commonly called the 'notary's clock,' in marble and bronze, characteristic of the 19th century, from the Napoleon III period.
This model features an elegant architectural structure in polished black marble, adorned with columns and veined grey marble elements, creating a refined contrast. The circular enamel dial, with black Arabic numerals, is surrounded by a gilt brass bezel. The whole sits on a heavy base, typical of bourgeois clocks of that era.
The glazed central section reveals the mercury pendulum, adding visual interest and highlighting the piece's authenticity. The movement is a key-wound mechanical mechanism (key missing), with hourly and half-hourly striking.
A distinctive decorative object, ideal for a fireplace, a desk, or a classic interior. This clock will appeal to connoisseurs of antique clockmaking and 19th-century furniture.
Overall good condition for its age, with normal signs of wear. Complete but needs servicing before it can be put back into operation.
