Description from the seller

Magnificent 19th-century mantel clock (Napoleon III) – Renaissance subject – Bronze Medal S. Marti

This seal refers to the medal awarded to Samuel Marti at the Paris Expositions (notably 1860). It is a pledge of reliability and precision for French watchmaking of that era.

Clock mechanism in working order. Striking mechanism to be serviced
With keys and balance wheel.

The detailed sculpture representing a Renaissance noble (potentially evoking Henry IV or a court scholar), holding a manuscript, leaning on the dial.

This piece stands out for the great delicacy of its régule sculpture, presenting a deep dark patina that perfectly imitates bronze. The character is depicted with striking realism: the details of the neck/collar, the embroidery of the doublet, and the drapery of the costume are of high precision.

Period: 1860-1870
Dimensions: 40 cm × 38 cm × 17.5 cm
Weight: 13 kilograms
