Description from the seller

Kingdom of the Netherlands 25 cent 1825 Utrecht – possibly ‘3’ beneath ‘5’ in the year

25 cent, dated 1825, Kingdom of the Netherlands under King William I, struck in Utrecht. An early 19th-century silver circulating coin from the early phase of the national coinage, in which under a central authority a uniform monetary standard was introduced.

This specimen shows a possible stamp trace in the year, with an underlying ‘3’ visible under the ‘5’ of 1825. This may indicate an adjusted or reused year stamp within the Utrecht production, a phenomenon that occurs sporadically in this period and is technically of interest to specialists. For further study please refer to the attached photos.

Struck in silver 569/1000, with a weight of 4.25 grams and a diameter of 20.6 mm. Literature: Schulman 289; KM 48.

A sharply struck specimen with strong detail, where the possible mint correction in the year adds an extra collector’s and research-oriented dimension.
