Description from the seller
David Law
Multidisciplinary Visual Artist – Creator of Contemporary Images
Photographer-artist, author and musician, David Law develops work centered on gaze, presence, and the perception of images in urban space. He first drew attention with a series devoted to storefront mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superimpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence gave birth to an art book published in 2021. Intrigued by the singular aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he continues this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light, and composition, these inanimate models acquire a troubling, almost lifelike presence, questioning our relationship to illusion and projection.
New Series – Echo Waves / Echo Visions - A New Reading of Cultural Icons
The Echo Waves / Echo Visions series offers a contemporary reinterpretation of cultural icons through an immersive, vibrant pop art aesthetic. Each work rests on a mosaic construction made up of thousands of micro-graphic compositions. From afar, the image reveals a recognizable figure, while up close it unveils a wealth of visual details. Each fragment acts as a “wave,” evoking the artistic universe of the subject depicted. The creation process is long and demanding, requiring precision and mastery of graphic tools. A thorough treatment is applied to colors, light, and the overall harmony of the image. Everything is created in an original and independent manner.
Edition & Production
Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered copies + 4 artist’s proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by an authenticity certificate. The prints are produced on aluminum with a built-in back mounting. Printed on luminous white vinyl, mounted between two aluminum plates, with flexible UV- and moisture-resistant lamination, ensuring excellent durability, long-term stability of colors, and a modern, contemporary rendering.
Background
Since 2014, David Law has participated in around twenty Contemporary Art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the appointed photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. Parallel to his visual work, he develops an authorial and musical career that includes 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a graphic novel, a photography book, and 5 self-produced CDs. A singer-guitarist, he currently performs with the group FRENZY.
