Large Neoclassical Pier Mirror – Wed. G. Dorens & Zn. Amsterdam – Late 19th Century
Description:
For sale is an elegant, large pier mirror (trumeau mirror) in the Neoclassical Louis XV style from the late 19th century. The mirror is remarkable for its elaborately designed pediment: a central floral medallion with the relief of a female bust in profile, flanked by floral ornaments, volutes, and a bow pediment. The wooden frame is inlaid with stucco and fully leaf-gilded (or patinated). Along the inner frame runs a classical meander band (Greek key).
On the back there is the original, historic maker’s label of the famous Amsterdam frame workshop: "Wed. G. Dorens & Zn. / Lijstenmakers / Amsterdam". The Dorens company was known in the 19th century as a court supplier for its outstanding quality.

Origin: Netherlands (Amsterdam)
Dimensions:
Total height: 180 cm
Total width: 69 cm
