Description from the seller
Liturgical ciborium in silvered metal – late 19th century
Elegant liturgical ciborium on a molded base, made of silvered metal and dating from the late 19th century, an expression of solid and functional ecclesiastical production, yet at the same time characterized by a sober and harmonious line.
The structure features a circular base well proportioned that rises into a turned stem with a refined central vase-like knot, a typical element that gives dynamism and balance to the whole. The upper body, globular in shape, houses the smooth, well-preserved inner cup, while the dome-shaped lid is topped by a terminal cross, a distinctive symbol of the sacred function of the object.
The dimensions are 22.5 cm in height and 9.8 cm in diameter, with a weight of 395 grams, making it a handheld yet stable and well-structured ciborium.
The surface shows a beautiful patina of age with signs of oxidation and wear consistent with the period, particularly visible on the lid and base. These elements do not in any way compromise the overall aesthetics; rather, they enhance its authenticity and historical charm. The interior of the cup is in good condition, with still-brilliant reflections.
An object of great interest for collectors of sacred art, but also perfect as a decorative element for classical interiors, studies, or private collections, where it can be valued as a testament to liturgical art of the era.
The photos are an integral part of the description. Guaranteed careful packaging entrusted to professionals in the field.
