Description from the seller
Splendid and refined 19th-century coffee table, from an ottocento manufactory, characterized by the excellent and scenographic parquetry work on the top. The upper surface features the famous three-dimensional geometric pattern of “cubes perspective” (also known as trompe-l'œil), achieved by laying pieces in light and dark wood to take advantage of the natural grain and create a perfect illusion of depth.
The edge of the top is finished with a thick shaped frieze that follows the octagonal contour. The central support consists of a sturdy shaft enriched by a collar carved with foliate motifs, which opens gracefully into three waved and carved legs, ensuring stability and a strong visual impact.
Typology Center table / Octagonal living-room table
Era 19th Century (18th / 19th Century)
Style Louis-Philippe / Biedermeier
Materials Solid-wood turned and carved shaft, top veneered and inlaid in various precious wood species (walnut, maple, opium). Form Regular octagonal top with a projecting molded edge
