Christofle, Gallia - Dish - Malmaison - Silverplated

Serving tray made in the 1950s/60s by the French manufacturer Christofle (Gallia collection)

Perimeter Frieze:
The edge of the tray is entirely relief-engraved with an alternating motif of palm leaves (palmettes) that recalls the Empire style. This vegetal frieze is the unmistakable identifying mark of the Malmaison collection.

The Surface: The central mirror of the tray boasts a very high-quality mirror finish, designed to enhance the reflections of light.

Materials and Manufacture
The tray is made in the famous Christofle alloy (plat-ménage), a special high-quality alpacca alloy that is subsequently subjected to a thick, durable silver plating. This patented electroplating process guarantees the luster of solid silver combined with extraordinary durability over time. On every piece are stamped the official marks of the French manufactory certifying its authenticity.

Condition: a few light scratches on the central cord/rim (see photo). Overall the silvering is still very beautiful and bright
