Description from the seller

RITUAL FEMALE STATUE

Probable Bamana, with western Gur-Mande influences, Mali

Wood with brown-red sacrificial patina, remnants of ritual feathers. A standing female figure with a geometric silhouette, presenting an angular face with almond-shaped eyes, a projected conical chest, and square lateral ears. The markedly stylized legs and the distinctive treatment of the feet suggest a possible ancient integration into a composite ritual object or a cult container. Notable wear deposits and ancient sacrificial materials preserved on the surface.
First half or mid-20th century
Height: 33 cm
Provenance: former private collection, Belgium
