Albert Lebourg (1849–1928)
Painter and draftsman, a major figure of the Impressionist school, Albert Lebourg established himself as one of the greatest interpreters of the banks of the Seine and the light of Normandy. Trained in Rouen and then settled in Paris, he developed at an early stage a sensitive pictorial style, made of soft brushwork, half-tones and vibrant atmospheres. His urban landscapes, seascapes and port scenes are among the most sought-after of his production.
An artist exhibited at the Salons and present in the greatest museums, Lebourg now captivates collectors with the luminous poetry of his compositions, his mastery of atmospheric variations and the softness of his palette. His works, always elegant and balanced, provide a safe value within an Impressionist collection or one dedicated to Norman painters.
