Worth knowing:
Philipp Röth (March 18, 1841 in Darmstadt – May 20, 1921 in Munich) was a painter and draftsman of late Romanticism and Impressionism. Röth began in 1855 a study in Darmstadt with August Lucas and Karl Ludwig Seeger. From 1859 to 1860 Röth attended the painting class of Johann Wilhelm Schirmer at the Karlsruhe Academy of Fine Arts and around 1861 again in Darmstadt with the Grand Ducal Hessian Court Painter Paul Weber, who later would also become his father-in-law. Röth is regarded as one of the most important representatives of the Paysage intime in Germany. His nature depictions show a strong interest in rendering seasonal and time-of-day as well as weather-related moods. In his late work Röth turned to Impressionism. In today’s Munich district Nederling, a memorial plaque recalls the painter and one of his preferred motifs. It is known today as the Röth-Linde. Under it Philipp Röth often sat and painted landscapes, which is why it is named after him. (Source: Wikipedia, more information is also there!)
