Description from the seller

GENERAL

The 1983 Mercedes-Benz 380SE belongs to the iconic W126 generation, worldwide renowned for setting new standards of safety and luxury in the automotive industry. This particular example shows 200,605 kilometers on its odometer, a reasonable figure for its 3.8-liter V8 M116 engine, famous for its durability and smooth operation. The model stands out for its precise German engineering, offering a balanced combination of performance and comfort that defined the S-Class for more than a decade.

BODYwork AND PAINT

The paint shows a good overall gloss, maintaining the elegance typical of this luxury sedan. There are minor scratches at the corners of the fenders from use and small paint imperfections visible in the photographic report. As for the undercarriage, it is very well preserved and almost free of rust traces, including the wheel arches and suspension arms. The rubber seals, glass, and chrome elements are well preserved, while the lights and optics are in proper working order. It is important to note that the vehicle has not suffered accidents or undergone modifications, preserving its original factory line.

MECHANICS

The vehicle starts perfectly in both cold and hot conditions and all inspections are up to date, so no immediate additional attention is required. The belts, oils and filters have been recently renewed and there are no leaks of coolant, fuel or hydraulic fluids observed. The braking system has been fully inspected and functions correctly. The dynamic behavior is stable and free of abnormal noises, both in the engine and in the four-speed automatic transmission, which shifts smoothly and precisely.

INTERIOR

The cabin is completely original and stands out for its gray leather seats with matching panel upholstery, all in very good condition. This unit is equipped with a power glass sunroof and upholstery in optimal condition. The dashboard is well preserved and free of the usual sun exposure cracks. All electrical components work correctly, including the sunroof, the original period telephone, the air conditioning system, power windows, and central locking. In short, the interior maintains its classic luxury configuration and atmosphere.

DOCUMENTATION

The documentation is complete, including the registration permit and the technical data sheet duly up to date. The ownership history shows that the vehicle has only had two owners since registration. It should be noted that, unfortunately, the original user manuals for the model are not available.

PICK-UP

The vehicle is in Tarragona, Spain and is available for inspection and pickup by the purchaser, with a recommendation to arrange logistics in advance to ensure a smooth handover of this German classic.

OTHER INFORMATION

As additional accessories, the Mercedes-Benz comes with its two original keys and includes an integrated alarm system for greater security.

Disclaimer

Catawiki always aims to offer you the best possible buying experience. Our experts virtually review and select every vehicle in line with our submission guidelines and we require our sellers to provide the most accurate description of the vehicle. However, providing a fully detailed analysis of the vehicle is extremely difficult, and close to impossible. To guide you, we ask our sellers to provide information about the vehicle’s condition. Please consider that most vehicles for sale are classic vehicles and they often already have a whole life behind them, meaning that even a condition 1 or 2 vehicle might need maintenance to be ready for the road. It is advised to carefully read our submission guidelines that further describe details about the condition grades and types to manage your expectations. Cars are sold “as is”, meaning as described and in the condition they are in at the time of the sale and without any representation, warranty or assumption of liability of any kind as to the condition by Catawiki or by the seller. The condition of this item is the opinion of the seller and may differ from yours, your local garage, or the dealer’s opinion. This does not automatically mean the car does not conform to its description. Before bidding, please check your local legislation regarding vehicle registration. Neither the seller nor Catawiki is responsible for the registration of the vehicle in your country and will not accept a cancellation for your failure to register the vehicle. We also recommend that, if possible, you arrange a viewing with the seller before placing a bid.
