A set of three walking canes with silver-plated metal shafts and bird-head handles designed by William Manton (UK), dating to 1930–1940, measuring about 86.5 cm in height with 4 cm high by 6.5 cm wide handles and a 1.1 cm depth, featuring carved aquatic birds and worn patina indicative of age.
Description from the seller
Collection of canes with distinctive handles shaped like bird heads.
The design is molded in the form of aquatic birds (duck, heron, and sandpiper), with clean lines and detailed eyes. The handles measure 4 cm high by 6.5 cm wide, the eyes are crystal.
The silver-plated handle shows wear and visible patina, suggesting its age.
The "W.M." mark is characteristic of the silversmith’s punches used to identify the maker, in this case William Manton, of Birmingham.
Length: Between 86.5 and 92.5 cm (with knob)
Knob: 4 x 6.5 cm
Era: 1930 - 1940
MATERIAL: Silver-plated metal
Functions both as a functional walking accessory and as a collectible decorative piece.
