Anton Heyboer, etching titled Huizen, hand-signed, in good condition, 43 × 60 cm with frame, original edition from 1980–1990, produced in the Netherlands and sold by Galerie.
Description from the seller
Anton Heyboer’s etchings are often simple and direct, with rough, sketch-like lines and strong contrasts. He works quickly and intuitively, with the graphic character of the scratches and engravings remaining visible. As a result, his houses acquire mainly an emotional, symbolic meaning rather than a realistic representation.
Anton Heyboer (1924-2005)
Due to his unconventional lifestyle, Anton Heyboer was among the most eccentric Dutch artists of the past decades. His turbulent life was expressed in a quintet of marriages. He also described himself as 'the Robin Hood of the art world', referring to his high art production. Heyboer was trained as a mechanical engineer. After World War II he began drawing, though still in a traditional style. Between 1954 and 1957 he developed his own philosophical framework on the basis of which his abstract works emerged. Yet there remain figurative elements in his paintings and etchings. Heyboer also clarified the themes of his work with texts, in which human relationships often play a role.
Dimensions with frame: 43 x 60 cm
Dimensions without frame: 33 x 41 cm
Framed work.
Viewing is of course possible. In addition we have our own in-house framing shop, which is celebrating its 85th anniversary this year. Furthermore we use restorers from the professional association: 'Restauratoren Nederland'. If you would like to make use of this, of course we would be happy to hear from you.
