Description from the seller
Up for auction is a fascinating vintage folding camera, ICA Dresden Vario, a classic example of German optical engineering produced by the renowned Internationale Camera Actiengesellschaft (ICA) in Dresden, dating roughly from the 1920s. This model represents the elegance of early twentieth-century photography, before the company merged to give rise to the historic Zeiss Ikon.
The vertical camera body is elegantly clad in black leather, with a robust extension mechanism that reveals a black pleated bellows in excellent cosmetic condition. The front section mounts an ICA Novar lens coupled to an adjustable central shutter, surrounded by the classic metal vintage indicators for shutter speeds and aperture control.
On the top of the optical assembly stands the orienting rangefinder (brilliant finder), useful for facilitating high-angle or bust-height framings.
The specimen is completed by its solid external protective housing and a top leather handle, ideal for transport.
A collectible piece with strong historical and visual impact, perfect to enrich a display of vintage photography or as an exclusive decorative element.
The item is sold in the cosmetic condition visible in the detailed images.
