Description from the seller

Lovely dalmatic in very good condition. The dalmatic is the liturgical robe of the deacon in the Latin Church. The dalmatic is supplied with a burse.

Dalmatia
The word dalmatic (Latin: dalmatica) is derived from Dalmatia, a region in present-day Croatia. Dalmaticas were generally worn only by male members of the upper classes.
When liturgical colors emerged in the 11th century, the standard white of the dalmatic was expanded with black (for funerals), purple (for Advent and Lent), red (for martyrs and feasts of the Holy Spirit) and green (throughout the year). The white, yellow or gold dalmatic is worn at feasts.

The form of the dalmatic has changed over the centuries. Whereas the profane dalmatic was a long gown reaching far below the knees, the liturgical dalmatic grew progressively shorter, both in the tunic portion and the sleeves. In some types the sides are slit open, probably to facilitate performing liturgical duties.

The lot is carefully packed and sent by registered mail. Photos complete this description.
