Born on February 28, 1935 in Alcoy, Alicante, Spain.
Art Education:
School of Art and Craft in Alcoy, Alicante from 1949 to 1953.
Obtained a certificate of success in the arts.
School of Fine Arts in Alcoy, Alicante from 1954 to 1958.
Obtained a certificate of success in the fine arts.
School and College:
La Salle in Alcoy, Alicante from 1941 to 1950.
Emilio Paya began painting at fourteen. At eighteen he began his formal art training. Thanks to his drawing talent he was inspired and encouraged to begin training at a young age. During his training he studied under the Spanish professor Edmundo Jorda.
"Payes" began painting professionally when he was 28 years old. Since then he has exhibited in galleries such as Soria Gallery in Châteauroux, France in 1995 and Hispaluz Gallery in Concepción, Chile in 1996.
Emilio Paya's works are in private collections in Japan, Saudi Arabia, Germany and the United States. Among the collectors of "Payes" are Prince Fahd Bin Salman of Saudi Arabia and members of the French and Belgian aristocracy. The artist describes his current style and the influences in his paintings as customs, ways and impressionism. His favorite subjects are landscapes, harbor scenes and Parisian objects.
