Description from the seller

Important solid silver ciborium in Neo-Gothic style, made by the Parisian silversmith Alexandre Thierry (active between 1823 and 1853).

Model richly adorned with grapevine tendrils, ears of wheat and repoussé medallions depicting Christ, the Virgin, the Sacred Hearts, Saint Anne with the Virgin and the Child Jesus, as well as Saint Philomena and Saint Barbara.

The lid is topped with a floral cross and the interior of the cup is entirely vermeiled.
Very fine quality of chasing and repoussé, characteristic of French religious silverware from the second quarter of the 19th century.

Minerva first title mark (950/1000) and Alexandre Thierry’s maker’s mark visible (Paris 34 Quai des Orfèvres). Weight 841 g
