Description from the seller
Lluís Bargalló (1932-2020) - Spanish School - Popular Architecture (Soportales y Arco de Piedra).
Original watercolor work by the renowned Catalan illustrator and painter Lluís Bargalló, famed in his more commercial facet for being the historic illustrator of the mythical Scalextric (Exin) or Madelman boxes, but who concurrently cultivated a prolific career as a easel painter. This watercolor is a magnificent example of his technical prowess in the urban landscape and popular architecture genre. Bargalló masterfully commands the watery medium, playing with glazes and the white reserves of the paper to recreate the rustic texture of stone, the play of light and shadow under the arches, and the patina of time on the wooden gates. A work of classical craftsmanship, flawless execution, and a calm tone, ideal for collectors who value the technical mastery of traditional watercolor.
Excellent overall condition. The pigments maintain their intensity and clarity, with no trace of oxidation or damage to the paper. It is presented protected by a mat and a classic wooden frame in good condition.
