Description from the seller

It is a Russian Orthodox icon of the “quadripartite” type or four registers, from the 19th century with Russian folk tradition.

It features several figures that are especially venerable:

Top left: The Virgin of Kazan ("Казанския"), one of the most important venerated titles in Russia.
Top right: Saint Nicholas ("Николас"), depicted blessing and holding the Gospel.
Bottom left: probably Saint George on a white horse, though the image is very darkened and it could also be another military saint.
Bottom right: a monastic or female martyr saint; the inscription seems hard to read due to wear, perhaps a saint highly venerated in Russia such as Paraskeva or Anastasia.

Wooden board with kovcheg (central recess).
Dark background and varnish very oxidized.
Old Cyrillic script.
Provincial folk-style painting.
Craquelure and wear natural to be in keeping with real age.
