Cicli Cancian vintage ladies’ travel city bicycle with a steel frame, single-speed gears, rim brakes, unique frame size, located in Italy, dating from 1970–1980 and in used condition.
Description from the seller
A rare and elegant example of a travel/city bicycle with a cradle frame (women's), fully assembled and customized in the early 1980s by the historic artisanal brand Cicli Cancian of Vittorio Veneto (Treviso).
The frame features the typical metallic gray/champagne paint of the era, embellished by very fine and elegant blue pinstripes hand-painted that run along the tubes and on the chain guard.
The bicycle is an original preserved example of the period, an exceptional testament to the great Veneto artisanal school led for decades by frame-builder Claudio Cancian (activity ceased in 2011). The bike has not undergone modern restorations or alterations, retaining all of its era-appropriate components intact.
Technical Features and Historical Details
Braking System: Classic rod-operated setup with an external bell-crank return mechanism (typical of the 1980s), with flat arches and rigid passages integrated into the frame.
Drivetrain: Fully enclosed steel shield (carter) in stamped metal with a tail-end terminal, center disc in matching color and coordinated blue threading. Crankarms chromed with a square-section modern type (no cotter pin).
Vintage Accessories Included (Rarities):
Under-seat bag original branded in gold lettering "Cicli-Moto Cancian - Vittorio Veneto" (complete with period tools).
Original-era integrated wheel lock anti-theft by GIGNO, an exemplar standard accessory of Italian production of that decade.
Geometry: Women's frame with double curved parallel top tubes, ideal for collecting, display in a shop window or for historical cycling events.
Condition
The bicycle is in good original-preservation condition. Structurally sound, it shows a readable and fascinating patina of time, with light spots of superficial rust blooming on the chrome and dust accumulated over the years. The tires (with original sidewall tread) show aging signs and might require replacement for daily use, the inner tubes still hold air!!!
An excellent base for a light conservative restoration (cleaning and lubrication) or to keep as-is for a collection.
