Kongo mask. The Kongo masks, worn during initiation ceremonies and funerals of the most important personalities, were also invested with a judicial role.
They are of great realism, almost figurative, notably with their delicately carved ears and their pointed teeth.
They are above all highly expressive, almost lifelike, thanks in part to their eyes.

Masque KONGO,Les masques Kongo, portés durant les cérémonies d’initiation et les funérailles des personnalités les plus importantes, étaient aussi investis d’un rôle judiciaire.
Ils sont d’un grand réalisme, quasi figuratifs, avec notamment leurs oreilles délicatement sculptées et leurs dents en pointe.
