Description from the seller

Manufacture: France
Era: First half of the 19th century
Neoclassical porcelain coffee service ("Empire Style") composed of a cup with saucer, milk jug and sugar basin on a tripod
White glazed porcelain, entirely hand-painted in polychrome (ochre, cobalt blue, brown) and highlighted with satin gold and burnished gilt to a mirror-like effect.

Era: about 1810-1830 (Empire/Restoration period)

Measurements: milk jug height 13 cm; sugar basin height 9 cm; saucer diameter 13 cm

Condition: Good overall condition.

Description of the lot
A refined coffee solitaire set that fully embodies the solemn and archaeological taste dominant in the early decades of the 19th century. The set consists of three coordinated elements with strict decorative continuity:

Litron cup with saucer: Characterized by the typical cylindrical shape with vertical walls, it features a interior entirely gilded with exceptional visual richness. The saucer bears at the center a refined circular reserve with a radiating golden motif.

Milk jug (Aiguière): Slender on a molded, gilded circular foot, it shows a wide spout opening with script phytomorphic decorations in gold. The handle is fluid, elegantly shaped, ending with a faked mascaron terminal.

Tripod sugar basin (or covered cup, without lid): Resting on three proud animal-footed feet in gilt gold that lift its ovoid body, enriched on the upper band by two plastic mascarons applied in relief depicting heads of faun/satyr.

The painted decoration focuses on an upper ochre-yellow Chinese yellow band, within which alternate blue oval reserves containing stylized palmettes (clearly of Etruscan and Pompeian derivation) alternate with delicate motifs of stars, racemes and geometric flowers in gold and brown. The lower part of the bodies remains in the whiteness of the porcelain, creating a skilled chromatic separation punctuated by thick bands of burnished gilt.
