Old and original map of the Caribbean 'West Indies', from 1827.

The map was published in London by John Mawman and comes in a rare leather carrying case.

It shows the Caribbean, the Gulf of Mexico, part of Central and North America, including Cuba, Jamaica, Puerto Rico and the Antilles.

This map measures 27.5 cm by 22 cm and shows the area frequented by Caribbean piracy, which used this zone from the 16th century until its end, around 1830. Afterwards, the navies of Western European nations and North America began to combat pirates.
