Description from the seller
Old marble engraved sundial – Manresa, 1817
Old sundial made on a hand-carved and engraved marble slab, dated 1817, with the upper inscription “MANRESA 1817”.
The piece features hour marks in Roman numerals, engraved solar lines, and an elegant crowned heraldic motif at the top center. It also retains the original hole intended for the gnomon (the projecting shadow rod).
This is an interesting testament to time measurement before the widespread use of mechanical clocks, with notable historical, decorative, and collectible interest. Its provenance linked to Manresa and the engraved date increase its appeal as a piece of Catalan popular heritage.
