Rated Excellent on Trustpilot.
Two antique morillos, with the front in bronze in the Louis XV style and the rear in wrought iron, originating from Italy and dating to 1850–1900; dimensions 37 cm wide, 25 cm high, 16 cm deep, in good used condition with signs of age.
Description from the seller
Two finials that perfectly condense the decorative taste of the 19th century, when the fireplace was a central point of the home and its accessories were conceived not only as functional elements but as pieces with obvious aesthetic presence. The front, made of bronze, shows that voluptuous and elegant profile typical of the Louis XV style: generous curves, lines that naturally undulate, urn-shaped finials, and a stepped base that provides visual balance. The warm shine of the metal, softened by the years, enhances every relief and gives the pair an air of domestic nobility.
The back structure, in wrought iron, maintains the solidity needed to support the logs, with that more austere and practical character that contrasts with the ornamental richness of the front. At each end appear the blacksmith’s inscriptions, small marks that function as an artisanal signature and add historical and human value to the piece: they remind us that these finials were created one by one, not mass-produced.
The ensemble conveys the sinuous elegance of late Rococo reinterpreted in full 19th century, with that mix of theatricality and refinement that made the fireplace a stage. They are pieces that speak of a time when even the fire was framed with art.
Certified shipping and careful packaging.
