Kangxi blue-and-white porcelain plate from China, diameter 26.5 cm and 2 cm high, dating to 1662–1722 with bok choi and peony motifs and two abstract decorations on the verso, in good condition with small signs of ageing including two hairlines, a chip and flea bites; provenance: auction house.
Description from the seller
Beautiful, vibrant blue-and-white Kangxi plate with a brown dressed rim depicting a plant (bok choi) and flowers (peony) in the centre and more peonies on the rim. The verso shows two abstract decorations. This delicate plate is made of surprisingly thin white porcelain. A previous owner applied a three prong metal clasp to the back of the object (to hang it vertically) which has left some blemishes in the stand ring and on the edges. The object has two visible hairlines, one chip and some flea bites (all as pictured), but remains in good overall condition for an object of this age.
