Silver-plated service plate by the prestigious house Christofle, one of the most famous French silversmiths.
Made in France during the first half of the 19th century, under the reign of the King of the French Louis-Philippe, circa 1843 (see the rectangular date mark “43”).
The plate features an elegant Louis XV-style decoration, with polylobed and molded contours. The rim is engraved with a monogram composed of the letters “S” and “D,” testifying to a commission by a wealthy bourgeois.
The piece is in excellent overall condition, with a fine presence and an attractive period patina.
