Description from the seller
Umberto Dei, imperial model, women's bicycle with rod brakes, this model was produced between the 1930s and the 1940s. Brakes using a rod and rocker system, with chrome rods. An integral braking system (introduced on the model in 1937), a kind of ABS of its time where the levers actuated a frame with joints, usually 26 inches for the women's model. Black livery with threading and chromed details. The enveloping shape of the black chain guard housing with the iconic cutouts and the hand-made gilded fillets. The bicycle has always been kept indoors and was restored a few years ago. Umberto Dei is one of the most prestigious and historic brands in Italian cycling, founded in Milan in 1896 by the namesake craftsman, regarded internationally as true icons of elegance, craftsmanship, and technical innovation. Used and in good conservative condition, it shows normal signs of age and light use oxidation, frame without cracks or welds, bicycle already usable with functioning brakes, tires inflated, period saddle. A general inspection is advisable before putting it on the road.
