The Olympus PEN EE-3 is a classic half-frame 35mm camera from the celebrated PEN series, designed by the legendary Yoshihisa Maitani — the engineer behind the original PEN, the Trip 35, the XA, and the OM system. First introduced in 1973, the EE-3 was the final and longest-lived model of the all-metal fixed-focus PEN EE line, remaining in production until the early 1980s.

As a half-frame camera, it captures two images on each standard 35mm frame, giving you 72 shots from a single 36-exposure roll — economical and perfect for travel and everyday shooting. It is fitted with the acclaimed fixed-focus D.Zuiko 28mm f/3.5 lens (4 elements in 3 groups) and offers fully automatic exposure through a selenium-cell "electric eye" that surrounds the lens — no battery is required for metering. The Copal-X shutter operates at 1/40 and 1/200 second, with apertures from f/3.5 to f/22, and the camera accepts film speeds from ISO 25 to 400. It also features a hot shoe and a Flashmatic system for use with flash.

A signature safety feature of the PEN EE series is the red flag ("red tongue") that appears in the viewfinder to warn you when there is insufficient light for a correct exposure.
