The Super-Multi-Coated Takumar 200mm f/4 is a classic M42 screw-mount telephoto from the golden age of Asahi Optical (Pentax). Introduced in 1971, it belongs to the celebrated "Super-Multi-Coated" Takumar generation — the line in which Asahi rolled out its acclaimed 7-layer multi-coating, dramatically improving flare resistance, contrast, and color rendition over earlier single-coated designs. The optical formula is 5 elements in 5 groups, in a robust, beautifully finished all-metal barrel with a built-in sliding lens hood. It supports open-aperture TTL metering on compatible Asahi Pentax bodies (Spotmatic F, Electro Spotmatic / ES, ES II). As a universal M42 screw-mount lens, it also adapts superbly to virtually any modern mirrorless system (Sony E, Micro Four Thirds, Fuji X, Nikon Z, Canon RF, etc.) with an inexpensive adapter, making it a versatile and rewarding telephoto for digital shooters. Please note: Super-Multi-Coated Takumar lenses have a small pin at the rear that locks the AUTO/MAN switch in AUTO on certain Pentax bodies.
