Description from the seller
An Italian-Swiss piece of horology history in extraordinary preservation, vintage bi-compax Phigied Extra (Reference 644) from the late 1950s.
A lightly worn specimen in daily use, with minimal lines on the gold of the case back. Otherwise, it has withstood the decades remaining practically intact: the case retains its factory sharp edges and has never been polished, which would have altered its original lines. The case, pushers, and bezel are entirely made of solid 18-karat gold (carat 750), for a total net weight of the gold components of 13.44 grams, rigorously verified on a digital scale.
With its oversized 38 mm diameter (excluding the crown), the watch has an incredibly modern and elegant presence on the wrist, far different from the smaller models of the era.
The dial is a small masterpiece: a splendid ivory-colored base, 100% original and never reprinted, enhanced by applied gilded Arabic numerals and by a very clear two-tone tachymeter scale on the outer portion.
Mechanically, the hand-wound Swiss movement responds very well to commands: the chronograph starts, stops, and resets perfectly at 12 o’clock.
It has not undergone recent servicing and preserves its total factory integrity (for everyday use, a normal servicing is recommended).
What makes this lot a true museum piece is its complete original accessories. The watch is accompanied by its precious green velvet vintage box stamped Phigied and by its original paper warranty certificate. A Full Set of this caliber and in this state of preservation is now almost impossible to find on the market.
