Cast Iron Canada Goose Doorstop – Original Polychrome Paint – Mid 20th Century

Heavy cast iron doorstop modelled as a Canada goose standing on a naturalistic base. The figure retains traces of its original hand-painted polychrome decoration, including black, white, brown and green tones, which have developed an attractive aged patina over time.

The sculptural quality is enhanced by finely modelled feather details and the characteristic long neck and head of the Canada goose. The reverse is plain cast, typical of decorative cast iron doorstops of the period.

A charming decorative object combining folk art character with practical functionality, equally suitable for a country house interior or a collection of cast iron decorative objects.

Good vintage condition with age-related wear, surface oxidation, paint loss and patina consistent with age and use. Structurally sound and stable.
