Victorian silver-plated bronze inkstand by The Bercley, dating 1850–1900, with a central crystal inkwell and an ornate metal cap, rectangular base 20 × 11 cm and 7 cm high, in good used condition.
Description from the seller
It is a Victorian inkstand, The Bercley, in silver-plated metal, a desk piece that embodies that sober, well-made luxury of the nineteenth century, when writing objects were both tools and statements of taste.
The rectangular base, with its wavy-edged and milled border, shows that balance between elegance and sturdiness that defined desk accessories of the era.
In the center rises the crystal ink well, thick and transparent, crowned by a metal lid ornamented with an engraved emblem, a detail that reveals the intention of prestige and distinction. The front pen rest, gently recessed, completes the composition with discreet yet impeccable functionality.
At the back it retains the seals and stamps, witnesses of its manufacture and quality guarantee, a common feature of Victorian luxury pieces, where provenance was an essential part of value. The silvering, already softened by time, gives a noble patina that enhances the reliefs and accentuates its historic character.
An object that speaks not only of writing but of status, ritual, and domestic refinement.
Certified shipping and careful packaging.
