Description from the seller
It is a devotional image from the early 20th century, made in polychrome plaster with gilded brass applications and details, which give it that warm, ceremonial glow so characteristic of domestic iconography of the period. The figure shows the Virgin in a posture of recollection, with hands crossed over the chest and an elevated, serene expression, almost suspended in a moment of contemplation.
The mantle, worked with broad and soft folds, combines cream, blues, and gold tones that blend naturally, creating a play of light that enhances the figure's verticality. The halo, crafted in cut brass, adds a touch of sacred theatricality: a metallic radiance that frames the face and underscopes its celestial character.
The base, ornamented with gilded motifs and small cherub heads, completes the composition with a baroque-inspired air reinterpreted from the popular sensibility of the early 20th century. It is a piece designed for the home, to preside over a corner of intimate devotion, but with the aesthetic ambition of the finest workshop productions.
Tracked shipping and careful packaging.
