Description from the seller

GENERAL
A rare chance to become the owner of a beautiful Mercedes-Benz 260SE W126, a true classic in exceptionally good and original condition. This 1988 sedan exudes pure class and is ready for a new enthusiast.

As part of the iconic W126 generation (the second series), the 260SE is renowned for its legendary build quality and timeless elegance. This model is equipped with the reliable 2.6-liter M103 inline-six injected engine, delivering 160 to 166 hp and paired with comfortable rear-wheel drive. The 'SE' designation here stands for the standard wheelbase with petrol injection, which provides a perfect balance between stately luxury and refined driving characteristics.

CARROZZERIA & PAINT
The exterior of this Mercedes-Benz is an absolute head-turner. The paintwork is largely original and in very neat condition. The right rear panel has been neatly repainted in the past. The chrome around the car is tight and bright, further emphasising the stately appearance of this S-Class. As an honest note, there is some light corrosion at the corners of the rear bumper, as clearly visible in the photos.

TECHNICAL
Technically this W126 is in excellent condition. With an odometer reading of around 189,000 original kilometers, this 260SE runs, shifts, and drives superbly. Both under the hood and in the trunk area everything looks neat and clean, which is clear evidence of careful and loving maintenance over the years.

INTERIOR
Step in and experience the calm and comfort of the interior this W126 has to offer. The interior has remained very nice and clean. The left seat shows a few minor age-related blemishes that are also captured in the photos.

The car is fully equipped with a well-working sliding/tilt sunroof, an original Becker radio, comfortable front headrests, and a practical center armrest. Even the spare wheel, together with the original tool kit, is still like new in the trunk.

DOCUMENTS
For registering this classic within Europe, no COC (Certificate of Conformity) is required due to the car's age. This significantly simplifies the import or export procedure within the European Union.

PICK-UP
This Mercedes-Benz 260SE can be viewed by appointment and can be collected in Damwoude, The Netherlands. We warmly invite you to come view the car in advance so you can experience the timeless class of this special vehicle for yourself. If you want to purchase the car remotely, we will of course gladly help arrange professional transport across Europe.

OTHER INFORMATION
Of course this splendid sedan is now 38 years old and in recent years has been used somewhat less intensively. There will therefore always be small cosmetic or technical niggles that can be improved to your liking. We describe our cars as honestly and correctly as possible, but they are used, classic vehicles. Please feel free to contact us to arrange a viewing.

Disclaimer

Catawiki always aims to offer you the best possible buying experience. Our experts virtually review and select every vehicle in line with our submission guidelines and we require our sellers to provide the most accurate description of the vehicle. However, providing a fully detailed analysis of the vehicle is extremely difficult, and close to impossible. To guide you, we ask our sellers to provide information about the vehicle’s condition. Please consider that most vehicles for sale are classic vehicles and they often already have a whole life behind them, meaning that even a condition 1 or 2 vehicle might need maintenance to be ready for the road. It is advised to carefully read our submission guidelines that further describe details about the condition grades and types to manage your expectations. Cars are sold “as is”, meaning as described and in the condition they are in at the time of the sale and without any representation, warranty or assumption of liability of any kind as to the condition by Catawiki or by the seller. The condition of this item is the opinion of the seller and may differ from yours, your local garage, or the dealer’s opinion. This does not automatically mean the car does not conform to its description. Before bidding, please check your local legislation regarding vehicle registration. Neither the seller nor Catawiki is responsible for the registration of the vehicle in your country and will not accept a cancellation for your failure to register the vehicle. We also recommend that, if possible, you arrange a viewing with the seller before placing a bid.
