Description from the seller

Antique Neo-Gothic bronze holy-water ewer – 19th century (Flemish model)

A beautiful and highly decorative five-sided holy-water ewer (bénitier) in Neo-Gothic style. This high-quality object is artisanal, crafted in the second half of the 19th century (ca. 1870–1890), the period when fascination with the Middle Ages (historicism) was at its peak. It is cast after the rare model of late-medieval holy-water vessels from Flanders and the Maasland (ca. 1500). The object is in excellent, unrestored condition and has a wonderful appearance.
