Pot - Porcelain - Chinese Monochrome

Description
A Chinese monochrome glazed porcelain pot, of compressed globular form, covered to the exterior with a rich purple-red flambé-type glaze with blue and lavender streaking.
The glaze has an attractive running effect, pooling around the lower body and foot. The base bears a blue Kangxi six-character mark, but the piece is later, probably 18th/19th century.

Condition:
Excellent overall condition. The mouth / neck has possibly been shortened. There is a crackle-glaze effect to the base and glaze crazing to the body. There are also firing imperfections, glaze variations and kiln-related marks, consistent with the nature of this type of glaze and age.
