Italian postmodern black sofa 'Re e Regina' Also called the King and Queen Sofa by Mario Botta for Alias, 1980s.

This two-seater sofa model is made entirely of black lacquered perforated sheet metal with a glossy finish. It has a cylindrical shape and forms both the armrests and the sofa frame. The two seats consist of two round cushions upholstered in black leather, corresponding to two round backrests, also upholstered in black leather.

Produced in 1985 by Alias ​​and designed by Mario Botta. It is in good condition, showing some signs of age and use. Dimensions in cm: 153 x 110 x 96 (height) and 46 (height seat).

Mario Botta is born on April 1, 1943 in Mendrisio, Canton of Ticino. He is a Swiss architect. He is based in Lugano in Ticino Township. As a leading architect he is internationally renowned, he has produced numerous works in Europe, Japan and the United States.

Mario Botta navigates what Manfredo Tafuri calls “utopia”. The architects who influenced him are Le Corbusier, Carlo Scarpa and Louis Kahn.

After building about twenty individual houses, Botta expanded his field of activity in the early 1980s to banking architecture, then design, and finally to cultural construction.
