Description from the seller

Teca ostensorio Liturgica “IHS” – Ambito Lombardo – Primi del XX secolo

Interesting and refined liturgical reliquary case from the early 20th century, made in cast metal, silvered and gilded details, attributable to the Lombard ecclesiastical milieu of the period 1900–1949.

The specimen presents all the typological characteristics of the lunette reliquaries cataloged among Italian historical-artistic properties: circular molded base with Greek key decorative band, shaft with a vase-like knot between collars, circular opening reliquary and Christological monogram “IHS” within a crown of thorns in relief. The upper part is topped by an elegant gilded patinated cross sustained by phytomorphic ornament.

Object of great charm and strong symbolic value, originally intended to guard and present the consecrated Host during functions and Eucharistic adoration. The interior still preserves the suggestive gilded finish, designed to amplify luminosity and the sacred value of the ensemble.

Very interesting is the decorative quality of the execution, characterized by a refined chromatic alternation between external silvering and gilded details, typical of Italian liturgical production of the early 20th century.

The typology is also cataloged in the General Catalog of Italian Cultural Heritage as “Teca-Lunetta 1900–1949”, in the Lombard context, with characteristics perfectly coherent with the proposed specimen.

Our interior designer/architect recommends: extraordinary in classical interiors, professional studios, ancient libraries, cabinets of curiosities, or interiors with eclectic and collecting taste. Also perfect when paired with reliquaries, crucifixes, ex votos and antique ecclesiastical furnishings.

Very good conditions and consistent with the period, with normal slight signs of aging, light superficial oxidation and minimal wear to the plating which attest to authenticity and historical use without compromising the overall elegance.

Dimensions: height 25 cm; base 10.5 x 10.5 cm.

Photos are an integral part of the description. Guaranteed careful packaging entrusted to professionals in the sector.
